After Davidson’s defeat at the hands of the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday, there was a lot of speculation as to where the Wildcats went wrong.
According to head coach Bob McKillop, the struggle his team had, including the tough night for his star player Steph Curry (5 for 26 on the night), falls on his own shoulders.
“Stephen Curry has gone through an extraordinary six months. The pressures that he has been able to play through and handle on the court, I don’t how he does it,” McKillop said.
“On top of (scoring), I expect him to bring the ball up the court, guard (Purdue’s) E’Twaun Moore, rebound the ball, make shots, deliver us from evil – mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa (my most grievous fault).”
“I’ve put too much on him and I’ve got to figure out in the next four or five days how I can take some of that off of him because I am wearing him down.”
Last year’s NABC coach of the year, McKillop, has the next week off to tweak his gameplan before the team’s next game against College of Charleston on December 29th.
